How to move from Amplitude to PostHog
- 1. Add PostHog's script next to Amplitude's. Run both for two weeks so you can compare the numbers before you trust the new ones.
- 2. Bring your history. Use PostHog's import tool, or ask their support to run it for you.
- 3. Recreate goals, events and funnels. List what you actually look at in Amplitude and rebuild just that in PostHog. Most people track far fewer events than they think.
- 4. Update your cookie banner and privacy policy. Cookieless tools often don't need a consent banner. Check your own legal requirements before removing it.
- 5. Remove Amplitude's script and cancel. Look for Export in Amplitude's settings. Then delete the script and cancel the subscription.
