How we track prices
Official pricing pages and announcements, one fixed yardstick per category, and a person checking every change before it goes up.
What a price means here
- Newsletter: Cheapest paid plan that can send a weekly newsletter to the whole list, billed monthly. Plans priced by emails sent assume one issue a week, about 4.3 emails per subscriber a month.
- Email API: Cheapest paid plan (plus overage when that's cheaper) covering the monthly volume, billed monthly. Contact-based pricing assumes 4 emails per contact.
- Analytics: Lowest monthly bill, billed monthly, on a self-serve plan one commercial site can stay on at that volume: free plans and included allowances count if they keep at least 12 months of data and need no badge. Event-based tools count one pageview as one event.
- Hosting: Entry paid plan per month, plus an estimate for one small always-on app.
- Other: Listed by their makers. Starting price of the cheapest paid plan, billed monthly. Not ranked against each other.
What counts as a hike
- Price increase: the same plan at the same size costs more.
- Free tier cut: the free plan shrinks or disappears.
- Limits cut: the same price buys less, or a feature moves to a pricier plan.
