Microsoft OneDrive pricing, price hikes and cheaper alternatives

Microsoft OneDrive (onedrive.com) is a cloud storage service. Storage is bundled into Microsoft 365 subscriptions for individuals, families and businesses, priced per month or per year.. Free plan: 5 GB free with a Microsoft account; no free plan includes 1 TB..

What Microsoft OneDrive costs

  • 1 user, 1 TB: $9.99/mo (Microsoft 365 Personal at $9.99/mo on monthly billing (annual $99.99 not used): 1 TB for one person. Microsoft 365 Basic has only 100 GB, and no OneDrive-only plan is listed.)
  • 10 users, 1 TB: $70/mo (Microsoft 365 Business Basic at $7.00 per user per month x 10 = $70.00, with 1 TB per user and no seat minimum found. The $7 is the stated monthly rate after the 2026-07-01 rise (was $6, per Office Watch); Microsoft sells it on annual commitments, so annual/12 applies, and any month-to-month premium is unverified. OneDrive for Business Plan 1 ($5/user) is excluded because third-party reports say it was retired for new sales in mid-2026.)
  • 20 GB transfers: $9.99/mo (Storage-product rule (at least 200 GB, with anyone-with-link sharing): Microsoft 365 Personal at $9.99/mo qualifies, and Basic (100 GB) does not. OneDrive has no separate transfer product, and no share-link download cap was found.)

Plan compared: Microsoft 365 Personal (1 TB, 1 person), monthly billing. Prices are USD per month on monthly billing (annual-only plans divided by 12) for the cheapest plan that fits each scenario: one person storing 1 TB (or backing up a computer with 1 TB), a 10-person team sharing 1 TB with admin controls, and one person sending twenty 20 GB files a month by link. A free plan counts as $0 only when it fully covers the scenario; lifetime deals and first-year discounts are ignored.
