Backblaze Computer Backup pricing, price hikes and cheaper alternatives
Backblaze Computer Backup (backblaze.com) is a cloud storage service. Flat monthly or annual subscription per computer with unlimited backup storage; Business adds multi-user admin controls.. No free plan.
What Backblaze Computer Backup costs
- 1 user, 1 TB: $9/mo (Personal Backup $9/month on monthly billing (live pricing page). The $99/year annual price would be $8.25/mo, but monthly is the rule. Storage is unlimited, so 1 TB is covered.)
- 10 users, 1 TB: $90/mo (Business Backup $9/month per computer x 10 computers = $90. The per-computer basis is inferred from the page's 'computer subscriptions' billing note.)
- 20 GB transfers: no public price (Null. Backblaze's 'Share a File' help article describes a public Share with Link, but its expiry, size and download limits are undocumented and it reportedly needs a B2 account, so the 20 GB x 20 scenario cannot be priced from the plan.)
Plan compared: Personal Backup, one computer, monthly billing. Prices are USD per month on monthly billing (annual-only plans divided by 12) for the cheapest plan that fits each scenario: one person storing 1 TB (or backing up a computer with 1 TB), a 10-person team sharing 1 TB with admin controls, and one person sending twenty 20 GB files a month by link. A free plan counts as $0 only when it fully covers the scenario; lifetime deals and first-year discounts are ignored.

Live pricing HTML shows $9/month, $99/year and $189 for two years on both Personal and Business, matching the October 2023 increase reported by TidBITS. The 2019 change comes from Backblaze's own February 2019 post, the 2021 terms rest on press coverage found in search rather than a re-fetch, and the PricingSaaS tracker was not used for prices because it lists $99 as /mo and no changes since April 2026.
