Modal (modal.com) is a GPU cloud platform. Pay per second for GPU, CPU and memory on top of a $0 Starter or $250/mo Team base that includes $30 or $100 of monthly compute; no annual pricing.. Free plan: Starter: $0 base fee with $30/mo of compute included, 3 seats, and up to 100 containers and 10 GPUs running at once..

What Modal costs

  • 100 H100 hours: $434.93/mo (Starter ($0 fee). H100 $0.001097/s x 3,600 s x 100 h = $394.92; 8 vCPU = 4 physical cores x $0.0000131/core-s x 360,000 s = $18.86; 64 GiB x $0.00000222/GiB-s x 360,000 s = $51.15. Usage $464.93 less the $30 Starter credit = $434.93. List rates are used because GPU functions are preemptible by default and Modal offers no non-preemptible GPU option (3x non-preemptible CPU and RAM would give $574.96). H100! pins the H100; plain H100 can auto-upgrade to H200 at no extra charge.)

  • 1,000 sandbox hours: $207.96/mo (Starter ($0 fee; its 100-container limit covers 20 concurrent sandboxes). Sandbox rates for 2 vCPU (1 physical core) and 4 GiB: $0.00003942/core-s x 3,600,000 s = $141.91; $0.00000667/GiB-s x 4 GiB x 3,600,000 s = $96.05. Usage $237.96 less the $30 Starter credit = $207.96. Disk and per-session fees are not published, so none are added.)

Plan compared: Starter (free plan): $0 fee, $30/mo compute credit applied, base (no-premium) rates. Prices are USD per month at on-demand, non-interruptible rates for three fixed workloads: 100 hours on one H100 80 GB GPU, one 24 GB-class GPU serving a model 24/7 (730 hours), and 1,000 hours of 2 vCPU / 4 GB agent sandboxes. They include required plan fees and separately billed CPU and RAM, net of recurring monthly credits; a dash means the product does not do that job.

  • Sep 8, 2026 · Price cut: Region selection floor cut from 1.5x to 1.15x of base prices; the 1.75x ceiling is unchanged.
  • Jul 3, 2026 · Price increase: Volumes storage is billed at $0.09 per GiB per month above 1 TiB free. The tracker lists it as a new charge; earlier Volumes pricing is not logged.
  • May 5, 2026 · Repriced: Region premium range narrowed to 1.5x to 1.75x for every plan (floor up, ceiling down); the 2026-09-08 change later cut the floor to 1.15x.
